We’re proud to celebrate over a decade of partnership with Le Club 55 - one of our earliest supporters and a long-standing friend of the brand. As the iconic beach club marks its 70th anniversary, we reflect on a shared journey rooted in sun-soaked rituals and life lived by the sea. Our collaboration began in the earliest days of FRESCOBOL CARIOCA, and now we honour that history with a collection inspired by the spirit of summer - and the friendship that started it all.

Where it All Began

Crystalline waves lap against white sand beneath the serene whistle of a coastal breeze - this is Plage de Pampelonne, St. Tropez’s most coveted shoreline and home to Le Club 55, the epitome of Riviera charm for 70 years. Founded almost by chance in 1955 (the namesake of Le Club 55) during the filming of And God Created Woman, the beach club was born when local residents Madame de Colmont and her husband welcomed director Roger Vadim and his crew, often cooking for them between takes. Their warmth subsequently won the affection of the film’s lead and soon-to-be darling of the silver screen, Brigitte Bardot, who would go on to make the club her haven - drawing a wave of artists, icons and sunseekers in her wake. Ever since, Le Club 55 has remained a sanctuary of simplicité and authenticité; “Ici le client n’est pas le roi… parce qu’il est un ami” - Here, the customer is not king… because he is a friend.

The Start of Something

Fast-forward nearly six decades: our founders, Harry Brantly and Max Leese, were playing a casual game of frescobol on the sands of Pampelonne. Over the rhythmic ‘knock-knock’ of the game, curious beachgoers began asking about their handmade bats. Among the intrigued was Patrice de Colmont - son of Le Club 55’s founders. Over drinks, a shared appreciation for summer rituals blossomed into the first chapter of FRESCOBOL CARIOCA’s story - an invitation to bring our bats into the world of Le Club 55. And so, Le Club 55 became our very first partner: a trusted ally in our formative years, quietly marking the beginning of our journey.

A Summer Celebration

To honour our friendship forged on the sands of Pampelonne, we are unveiling two limited edition Riviera essentials: a crisp linen towel for days by the shore, and co-branded frescobol bats - an homage to where our story first began, and a symbol of the friendship and shared spirit between FRESCOBOL CARIOCA and Le Club 55.
